Colorado River Oasis, Ehrenberg AZ 1/6/09 - 1/20/09

The next park we stayed in was right along the Colorado River. It was not a Thousand Trails Park. We stayed in it under one of our affiliate programs, ROD. When we got there, my Cousin Vicky and her husband Ken were already there, so we did a few things with them. Then Terry's nephew Gary and his wife Val called and wanted to come see us, so they were able to come in as our guests. It was so good to see them again. We had a good time going with them to Quartzsite to the flea market. We were pooped by the time we got home, but they barbecued a great steak dinner for us.

This is Gary and Val's little dog. It had a nice bed between the front seats of their truck.

This is their other dog. It had the whole back seat to itself. They have had this dog for a long time and it is getting pretty old. Both dogs were really well behaved and nice to have around.

Talking about dogs, and being around them, Terry finally let me have one! This one does all of his cleaning and potty duties at night while we are asleep. (He even cleans up after himself!) He doesn't bark or chew on anything, and his food bill is basically zero. We decided this is the best kind of pet to have while we are RVing. We do check on him pretty often to make sure he is still breathing. Isn't he just about the cutest puppy you have ever seen!

The stay at this park really seemed like "old home and relative week." Ron and Sharon are from Boise and they were staying in Parker (about 40 miles from us) so we went to see them and went to dinner and the movies with them. Then they came to our park and had a barbecue.

Terry's sister Lolita and hubby, Bob, also came into the park and they parked next to us for about a week, until we left. We will be with them again in March when we go to Verde Valley, AZ. They had traveled down from Idaho with friends Sandy and Ken who were also staying in a park in Parker. Other friends from Emmett, Opal and Jim, were staying the winter in Quartzsite (between us and Parker). We all went to the Quartzsite flea market and then went to Opal and Jim's for another barbecue! (We have probably gained back all of the weight we have lost in the last couple of months!)

Ron and Sharon were with us when we got out "dog" so Ron had to "keep up with the Jones'" so he got a little Jack Russell. He is a whole lot more work than our dog, but he is a nice little dog.

Terry's cousin Bob and his wife Carol usually spend the winter in Quartzsite. They were a little late coming down this year, but they got there a few days before we headed for Yuma. We went to visit them with Bob and Lolita.

They live in a "park model" that is stationary. Each year they come down, they have to turn everything on. He was having trouble getting his hot water heater lit, so Terry helped him get it going. Terry seems to enjoy "laying down on the job."

We ladies stayed inside and "gossiped". . .

While the men sat out on the porch and solved all of the problems of the world. They have a nice little home and we enjoyed seeing them again.
With all of these friends and relatives we got to be with during the two weeks we were at Ehrenberg, we got a phone call from Larry and Connie who we have been friends with forever. They are from Emmett and came down to Arizona to stay for a few weeks. They wondered where we were and they ended up traveling down towards us. They stayed in a park just across the Colorado River from us, which was in California. We went to Church with them and Bob and Lolita then we all had lunch together.
Then, our really good friends, Russ and Louise, who just retired last summer, called and they were also traveling towards us. They ended up staying at the same park as Larry and Connie for a couple of nights. It sure seemed like "old home week" for sure!
