Trip thru Texas & New Mexico to St David RV Park, St David AZ 4/16/2013 - 4/23/2013

We had more than an 800-mile trip from Lake Medina to our next scheduled campground in St. David, AZ, so we went part way and stopped for the night in a Walmart parking lot in Las Cruces, NM.  Texas is a huge state, and very flat and dry in the section we drove across.  Once we got to New Mexico, there were a few more hills and mountains.  But, we had a good book-on-tape to listen to, so the time went by quite fast.

We hit some pretty good winds in New Mexico and there were a lot of dust devil whirlwinds.  We saw one of them off in the distance and I told Terry, "This one is going to hit us!"

Sure enough, as we reached it, it hit the Journey broadside.  Even though it didn't look too big, it about knocked us off the road!  I don't think Terry really thought it would hit us.

Well, we finally got to familiar territory when we hit St. David, AZ.  After eight and a half months we kind of felt like we were home.  We have been to this park every year for the last six.  We had a nice time there relaxing, riding our bikes, getting laundry done, and eating a great steak dinner cooked by their chef.  I didn't take any pictures of the park because we have lots from the previous years.  We only stayed for five days before going on to Apache Junction.  And, I can't post this until after the 19th of May because my brothers and sister and I are surprising our brother, David, in Sierra Vista, AZ, for his 50th birthday.  We usually go visit him when we go to St. David and we didn't want him to guess our surprise!
