Las Vegas 4/22/09 - 4/28/09

On our way from THE Rally to Las Vegas, we cross over Hoover Dam. One of these days, when we don't have a Condo on the back of our truck, we need to stop and go on the tour.

We have been over the dam at least 20 times. This is also where Pacific Standard Time and Mountain Standard Time changes. There are two clocks, one on each side of the dam.

Right now they are working on building a new road that bypasses the dam. It has a HUGE span of road that goes over the canyon down into the Colorado River. Looking at it now, it looks way too scary to ever even think about driving way up there! It shouldn't be too much longer before it is finished.

The park in Las Vegas is a nice little park. It is an older one so the spots are small and close together. It was built before people started living in their RVs so they were not so long. There aren't many activities or anything going on in the park because most people spend their time at the Las Vegas entertainment. We did go to a movie one night at one of the casinos. And, we went and "listened" to some karaoke in the park on Saturday night. They tried to get us to sing but we told them we were just the audience.

The park has some really nice cabins that can be rented. Here is a pretty little gazebo by one of the rentals.

The pool and hot tub were up and going, although we didn't get in either. We did a lot of walking each day. The park is on a busy road, Boulder Highway, so we don't usually walk on it a lot. We go behind the Park and walk in the residential area.

One day we were driving around and saw this strange looking tree.

Yup, another cell tower. It looked really kind of funny having a tall pine tree in the middle of palm trees. I am not sure why they made it a pine tree instead of a palm tree.

When we were at THE Rally, we had a little license plate made that we can put on the front of the Condo so people can read who we are and where we come from.

This is the spot we had in the park. It looks like we have a lot of room, but our neighbor just left before I took this picture. He was parked between us and the picnic table! We didn't get a picnic table in our spot. Everyone has to make sure they park right in the middle of their spot or there isn't room to put out the slides on our RVs! At least we didn't have to worry about putting our awning down (there wasn't room anyway.) There was plenty of shade from your neighbors!
